“In the year 411 BC the world was at war, just like today, more than 2,500 years later, when a text like Lysistrata is read, it surprises and saddens that it has never changed: the same vices, the same hatreds, the same arrogance, the same lament of the weak …
Even so, it is not this that has encouraged us to carry out this great classic of universal literature, but the great similarity between the dramatic writing of Aristophanes and the forms of expression of the Cádiz carnival of our days.
In our version, we impudently mix these two worlds, so far in time, without prejudice and full of enthusiasm. Theater, humor, music, irreverence, carnival, passion, freedom. This is the proposal with which we recreate the history of these women who rise “in the foot of peace” to end the hatred in the world, through a sex strike. We hope you enjoy it. And by the way, we invite you to find out what Aristophanes is and what we have brought to Las Niñas de Cádiz. Sure surprise surprise take.
