It is aimed at children in Primary, Compulsory Secondary Education and Special Education in Tarifa and Algeciras.
The Strait can be a golden dune, a kite jumping the waves or a visit to an ancient necropolis. Of all that variety, about fauna, landscapes, resources and values, the Natural Park proposes that the schoolchildren speak at the First Science and Art Contest “Consciousness”. It is directed to a wide educational community that goes from the Infantile Education to the Compulsory Secondary passing through the Primary and the Special Education. The term of presentation of drawings and posters or informative panels is open until March 30 and is channeled through the educational centers.
The purpose of the contest is to bring the natural and cultural values of the Natural Park of the Strait closer to the educational sphere. All the centers of Early Childhood Education, Primary, Compulsory Secondary and Special Education of Tarifa and Algeciras, localities included in the natural space, are called to participate. To this end, the respective municipal areas of the municipalities involved have already assumed the disclosure of the contest convened by the Natural Park that also has the support of a significant number of sponsors.
In Nursery, Primary and Special Education are expected to gather drawings and artistic works that illustrate the values of the protected area: its fauna, flora, human activity, cultural heritage … all references are open to the interpretation of school children.
In Compulsory Secondary, a more informative approach is sought. It is proposed thus the realization of panels or posters that combine images and texts.
Out of all the works submitted, 40, 10 will be selected for each category for exhibition in different exhibition rooms. This is the case of the “Old Royal Prison”, the exhibition hall of Baelo Claudia “and that of” CIMA “in Tarifa. Also the commercial center “Bahia Sur”, the Municipal Culture Foundation “José Luis Cano” and “Diverciencia” in Algeciras.
The bases also include prizes for the three best works of each category consisting of publications published by the Natural Park and the Institute of Field of Gibraltar Studies, and material for mountain sports sponsored by the “Corte Inglés”.
Also for the winning work of each category there will be an added prize. Together with three family members each award-winning schoolchild can enjoy the sighting of cetaceans in a shipment sponsored by Turmares, Whale Watch Tarifa and Firmm. Together with their classmates, they will also enjoy a guided tour through the CIMA of the Migres Foundation and will participate in the “Meet the Natural Park of the Strait” program.
The works can be delivered in the municipalities of Tarifa, Algeciras and subdelegation of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía in the region. All before March 30.
