HERITAGE AND NATURE OF LA LAGUNA DE LA JANDA ARE ADDRESSED IN FACINAS IN MID-OCTOBER
The Friends of Laguna de la Janda Association will bring together experts in conservation and management of natural spaces and historians in the theater
Facinas hosts from October 18 to 20 the first Days of Heritage and Nature of the Laguna de la Janda. Conferences, exhibitions, round tables and exits to the nature of the old wetland integrate an agenda organized by the Association of Friends of the Laguna de la Janda with the sponsorship of the City Council of Facinas and the APBA. The conference is open to the participation of all interested public.
The “Friends of the Janda” have already championed different actions to publicize the uniqueness of an altered ecosystem that they aspire to recover. Or at least to value. To this end, they have now launched the organization of informative conferences that address the uniqueness of the former lagoon.
From the historical, naturalistic and heritage perspective, we will talk about the wetland today, formerly a lagoon that covered a wide area. Scholars and experts such as historians Salustino Gutiérrez and Francisco Javier Jiménez will talk about the ethnography of the place on Friday, October 18.
On Saturday, the 19th, the program will focus on the key importance of Janda for bird migration, southern art inspired by its landscape or the ecological history of the enclave with experts such as Clive Finlayson, Simón Blanco and Manuel A. Dueñas.
Other aspects to be discussed will be the conflict of public ownership of the land that flies over the lagoon recovery project.
Examples of regeneration of lagoons such as La Nava and Boada in Palencia, or the opportunities of wetlands as tourist attractions will also be analyzed by experts.
The conference includes a proposal of guided visits for bird watching on the Janda or excursion to the Tajo de las Figuras y Dólmenes del Celemín.
