NEREIDE AND ECOLOCALIZA WILL FORM VOLUNTEERS IN THE PROJECT “LOS FERRIS, A MEANS TO STUDY THE CETÁCEANS” OF THE GIBRALTAR STRAIT ”
The Nereide Association and the Ecolocaliza project, in collaboration with OSEGS, organize a specific course to facilitate the training of personnel interested in monitoring and studying the cetacean populations of the Strait of Gibraltar. The uniqueness of the initiative that has been developed in the area since 2018 lies in the monitoring and monitoring of cetacean populations from ferries that cover the Strait maritime link.
Thanks to the support of the Baleária Foundation, the aforementioned vessels are used as a platform to collect scientific data. The project is included in the Mediterranean network of cetacean monitoring from ferries (Fixed Line Transect Mediterranean Network).
Participants will be trained in different themes that will allow a deeper understanding of the cetacean species that inhabit the Strait. It also offers tools to develop field work on board ferries.
The training will take place in Tarifa at the “Floating house” of the OSEGS, Organization for Science Education and Global Society, on Friday, January 31, in the afternoon, from 15:30 to 20:30. For registration contact email@example.com, specifying in the object “Ferris training”.
