Exhibition “With a woman’s name, those you never saw”

5 March 2019 - 8 March 2019

On March 8th, International Day of Working Women will have more than one previous reference in cultural and informative key. The Commission for the Support of Culture and Education “KCTarifa”, the IES “Almadraba” and the Feminist Assembly of Tarifa promote a calendar of activities and appointments with the Central Market of Supplies as a scenario for reflection between Tuesday, 5th March and the 7th, the eve of the world day of women. These days the doors open with activities for all audiences: from lectures to storytelling.

During the whole week there will be an exhibition of photographs of women who have excelled in different disciplines (literature, painting, sciences, sports, etc.) at the Food Market and who have not been sufficiently recognized. This exhibition is open to all the public, and the students of the I.E.S. Almadraba will explain to the visitors the contents of the exposed panels.

In addition to this exhibition, in the evenings there will be different activities for all audiences. The complete schedule is as follows:

On Tuesday 5th the students of the I.E.S. Almadraba will participate in a symbolic change of the names of some streets of the historic center of the town, which will be named after those women whose stories will be exposed in the market.

The idea is that citizens in general know significant female biographies in the evolution of history, as well as the role of many other representative women of their time.
